A Kosher Niche In Skokie
Designing a "Kosher" kitchen requires some research into the laws of keeping Kosher. One of the basic tenets is the separation of dairy and meat. This contemporary kitchen has duplicate preparation, cooking and cleanup areas in addition to the extra storage needed to accommodate double utensils and dishes. Dramatic lighting was achieved utilizing 50 halogen lights, 17 of which were mounted in a one piece floating valance over the 184-inch by 55-inch island.
Special design features: Black cabinet doors that conceal file storage define the desk center adjacent to a mirrored display area; pocket doors and TV swivel above display area; mixer pop-up; recycling cabinets; warming drawer.
